I needed to wait and do this review on a computer - because so much to say!!***CONTAINS NO SPOILERS!!***I'll start off by saying that this entire trilogy has some of the strongest world-building I've ever read. And I appreciate that so much. A consistent world, with established rules that don't change or get broken, and a clear concept of where in the universe things are, are all integral to my personal enjoyment of a story. I've read plenty of books, and book series, that do this well (Harry Po [...]
Spendlove has written a very original and engaging tale. This is a very satisfying ending to the series. In particular, I very much liked the use of dreams in the advancement of the plot and the twist in the resolution at the end.If I have any complaints about this book and the series as whole is the endless repetition of the two primary defining characteristics of the main character, Story, that made her different from the inhabitants of this sister world. After a while that became annoying, pa [...]
I greatly enjoyed the first two books in the War of the Seasons trilogy so much that I joined in on the kickstarter for this book. I was even one of the first 100 backers. As I expected, this book was extremely well written. To “pre-game” I re-read the last 8 chapters of The Half-Blood, and then dived in. The Hunter seemed to paced slower than previous novels, which was nice as in a way I was saying good-bye to these characters. The world of Ailionora has been my place to escape to between i [...]
Perfect EndingThis book was great. There where definitely sad some sad parts, some sweet parts and a few moments where I was like I know that's right Story!!! I definitely saw character growth which I love to see!! This book took me on a amazing journey. I'd definitely recommend this for any lovers of fantasy or anyone looking for a great adventurous read.
"Simple Story." That nickname is repeated in this book, like the two before, but it is also a fitting description of the final book (and to an extent, the series writ large. A simple, easy to ready story. We side with Story and her friends, but the plot twists are fairly predictable and the characters fairly familiar as well.
A very fitting ending (?) to the trilogy. Spendlove continues to weave an engrossing tale, and the characters develop in ways I didn't quite see coming. She has built a great world here, and I'd love to explore it more.
The book is fabulous. I love how the story ends.
An interesting tale in a fantasy world.
